Javascript text effect

Actually , im planning to do some text effect using javascript. I want to have a 'register now' link in a rectangle and i want the rectangle to blink. Lets say the rectangle is in yellow, i want it to blink every 1 or 2 seconds. The text will stay static, only the rectangle that covers the text will blink. How can i do this?
