What is your opinion on Google’s new beta section at http://labs.google.com (http://labs.google.com/)?

I liked the old design better. As for the services, they tend to vary over time, but there are always something that might very well become more then a beta there. I think Google Labs is one of the things that has made the company what it is today, instead of just the foremost search engine among close choices.

I had no idea that Google was sponsoring a distributed computing program. Pretty good idea in my opinion, just signed up.

I noticed that just now, I wonder what "type" of scientific calcuations your computer would be doing??

I don't know about Google's distributed computing system, but the ones I've seen so far are either statistics or physics (using the SLAC or CERN particle accelerator data).

...with the exception of one or two additional decimals for pi.

I guess that 1 or 2 decimals for pi may seem important to mathematicians, but compared to protein folding it just seems insignificant.

To tell you the truth, I am 12, so I really don't know what you were talking about with the pi.

Do ya know what pi is? Most people know it as 3.14 but in fact the decimal places go on forever since it's an irrational number. Well actually, I don't know if we really know if it goes on forever, it could stop I guess.
