disable explorerr

hope someone can help me...

I'm trying to disable explorer.exe on startup. The only thing is that i want to run a program on startup and then disable explorer.exe so that the users of that computer can only use one one software. Anyone that can help me, much appreciated.

[boot]
shell=explorer.exe (put your program here instead of explorer.exe)

caveat....you no longer have a facility to shut down windows cleanly.

For Win2K/XP:

I believe you can use the group policy MMC snap-in to define a custom shell program.

maybe i should of specify my question more. i know how to disable explorer in window 9x. what i would like to know is how to disable explorer.exe on start up in windows 2000 and windows xp(pro). Someone once showed me how to do it but memory doesn't serve me well.
