I think I must have accidentally done something wrong when I was deleting some files on my computer and now I can't load the computer too well. It says the file path system.ini cannot be found. Do you know how I could go about restoring this file? thanks in advance
what is your operating system?

I got windows 98.
I will check to see if it is in the trash bin.

If you can't get the system.ini from the trash, you could always try to make it again. Just look at the system.ini file on a diff comp with win98 and copy it over and it should work, (there could be some junk that was only for that machine you would need to remove from it).

Well, without system.ini the computer won't boot. :(
You just need a boot disk (make one from another win98 pc), and you should be able to boot windows.
You don't need to waste your money on a repair man, but for you it may be much easier and faster (and maby free).

Alright, I guess I will see if I can find that boot up disk and if not then I am out of luck

well if you dont have one already, u make the boot disk from another comp with windows 98 and a blank floppy disk. If this fails your not out of luck... You can still back up all your work and reformat/reinstall, or just reinstal win98, w/o reformating (you would need the windows 98 disk). I am not completely sure (havent had to do something like this in win98 in a while), but I know with some of the versions of windows (like xp) you can repair the install of windows with the install disk.
Edit: I know there are windows 98 recoverey disks that will allow you to repair a current windows 98 installation (I have one)
