playing sounds

hi all,
i hv a situation where i have an icon or button where when it is clicked, it will play out a selected song. like let's say:


like lets say u have a display of songs....and beside each song title there is an icon or a link. once clicked, it will play the song but doesn't involve any external player.how can i do that?

Playing a song without an external player? Why that, I guess everyone should have a MP3 player or minimal sound control on his computer nowadays. Your only way is to request a PHP script upon clicking the icon and returning an audio file, which hopefully (and most certainly) will be played by the external player.
