I installed Xp, then installed Norton Antivirus and did the live update. However while I was going through live update, ironically enough I got the blaster worm...( I got a worm from installing a patch..is that f---ed up or what?) so anyway halfway through i had to cancel the update due to the virus. I log back on the net and stop the service that runs blaster, then I go to the Norton home page and download a blaster patch, which did not work. So then I go to Windows Update to install a 20.5 meg patch on a 56k modem which took about a hr and a half.

After the time was up, a long list of red links appear on my screen telling me that non of the links were installed. I think by now anyone reading this can understand my frustration especailly if you run off a slow crappy modem like mine.

I dont know what is going on, but i'm pretty pissed off and most likely, by the time you are reading this, I have bought McAfee's anti-virus software hoping that it is better than the one I got now now.

Well anyway, sorry if it seems like i am complaining. Any input from readers would be very helpfull.

There is also a pop up box that comes up every now and then, i dont remember the title of the box but i cant move icons on my comp, i can open pictures, click on links, or do really any simple computer function with sanity. Things take a while just to open and close and sometimes if i want a link to work, i got to close and re-open the browser... this sucks....

Since you just installed XP, nuke and re-install it again. This time though make sure you enable the built-in firewall and disable the "blaster" hosting service before you connect to the web to get other updates.

That way you can be sure your machine is clean.
