Is there a way i can build something, into my coputer, that allows me to switch from headphone use, to speaker use, in the flip of a button. (Both headphones and speakers have to be plugged directly into the sound card to work right now, so it a big hastle)

Any suggestions on how i might go about this would be great.

I know of a place that can almost definitely provide you with an answer. Try posting over at [http://hardforum.com]. Specifically: [http://hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=33]

You could build a little box for cheap with parts from like Radio Shack that would switch between them too.

Are you electrically inclined? Like good with wiring, soldering, etc?

If you are, basically all you'd be doing is having a wire with the connector to plug into your sound card, then have it go into a small box with a toggle switch and then two audio jacks on the box.

That's the main reason that I pointed you to hardforums.com They have a bunch of qualified electricians that would be able to tell you exactly what you need to do.

radio shack has a simple box that lets you plug them in and switch the output between 1-4 different places, headphones, speakers, stereo...I know if used one before...

the only problem with pre builts, is they are only one channel. My speakers are 4.1, my head phones are 5.1

Ill ask the hardware forum.
