I would like to put an .exe file on my webpage but NOT for people to click on.. I will try to elaborate and tell you precisely what it is I want to do..You may think it silly but I think it would look cute.

I made a webpage for a Pet Supply shop.
On my computer I have a .exe file called Felix21 (it's a black and white cat that roams around my computer, sits on top of prompts or chases a little fly and leaves shadowed paw prints on my screen for a second when it catches the fly and he also watches TV of cat food ads and he leaves through a little door and disappears only to appear at the side of the screen and smiles at me, as if 'Here I Am'...if I minimize a window he falls down and walks along my task bar or just sits their washing his paws. He is the cutest little computer companion I've seen..
Anywaysss, I would like to know How can I put him on the webpage I made for the Pet Supply store..it would be so appropriate.
Even though it is silly can anyone tell me how to do it..
How does one find the html for a .exe file?
Can a .exe file be converted to html?
Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

lol, I was thinking the same thing mouse.

But if the website was made in flash than it could be done, that is to say you could make you own cat which is controlled by AScript to make it execute the right animation sequences at the right time. But however "cute" it would be, it would slow down page loading time.

Well, all the same I would have like to do it, but have found out so much stuff one would have to do, like having to purchase a Developers Certificate, then also having to convert the .exe to a .zip file just to be able to get it on the page.

I was not aware until about an hour or so ago that .exe files no matter how small is in actuality a 'program'

I would also have to get in touch with the owner of the .exe file and I have no clue who it is to be able to get 'Permission' in the first place...now he/she would have all the code...and I can't see a stranger just letting another stranger have that.
I have also had the .exe file on my computer for such a long time that I don't even remember where I downloaded it from/
So all the same everybody ..Thanks for replying but the novelty would be too great a burden to even do. So the idea is now scrapped.
Thanks anyways
P.S. by the way Mouse...there are not too many things that can't be done on a computer..so 'No' is not the right answer.

just use a dhtml script to get the moggie flying around on the screen! easy as pie! or you could try getting a microphone saying exaxctly what you xant the cat to do, save it as a wav file hen rename it to a .html file and it would be about as helpfull as you first suggestion canapril. where did you get that screen mate btw?

You can make your roaming cat in dhtml or in flash - either would work, but dhtml would be better because it would have the whole screen to play in, whereas flash objects are restricted to their object space

So check out DD for some examples of images moving round the screen, and how to animate from page events.

I would suggest you forget about that .exe - nothing in that is going to be transferable to browser-based technology, and in any case it is copyright - it's made by the company who make Felix cat food http://www.catslikefelix.com/

Hi there Brothercake,

Thanks ever so much for letting me know the site address for Felix.
Now that I went there, I can recall yes that is where I got it in the first place..
Thanks for the refresher.
I have scrapped the whole idea of adding it to a page, i just sent it to the owner of the Pet Supply store for who I made a webpage for and he loves it.
Thanks again everybody and you Brothercake
