Hi, it's my 1st post and I hope someone can help me.
I have a Linux box with Apache serving up my website(s) which all works fine.
I got sent a couple of *.swf banners and tried to use them on existing web pages but they won't display.
Any ideas anyone.
Thanks in advance for your help.

They won't display when viewed from your machine or from anyone's machine? Could be that you/they don't have don't have Flash plug-in installed on your browser?

or the server is set up not to allow swfs in the same way as servers dont usually let u download batch files (.bat) and sometimes (.exe) by default but.. isnt this thread in the wrong forum anyway

Thanks for the replies guys.
maybe...but what is the correct forum?
I think it maybe that I need to install a macromedia flash plug-in for Gentoo linux on the server ?
possibly something like 'emerge linux-flash ?
Any ideas ?
Thanks anyway

Are you sure the browser has Flash? If not, here's how to install it:
http://www.linuxforum.com/linux_tutorials/63/1.php
Otherwise it could be your server doesn't have the MIME types setup:
http://www.flashcentral.com/Tech/Server/Apache.htm
Hope that helps,
Sadiq.

I have recently bought a hosting package and when I try to put flash on my site it will not load. However, when I put it on any other webspace that i can use at the time it works fine. Have contacted support at my host on numerous times to try and get them to look at it but they just reply with "flash is not server dependent" streamlinenet.co.uk alias rubbishlinenet.co.uk.
