Password Protect a Single File

Is there a way that I can password protect a single file that way it can be available through a link but not accessable to everyone. Is this possible? If not what alternatives do I have?

Bring the page up in the IIS Manager, right-click on it and select "Properties". Select the "File Security" tab and click on the "Edit" button under the "Anonymous access and authentification control" heading. From the new dialog box turn off the checkbox by "Anonymous Access" and set the checkbox by one or more of the "Authenticated Access" options.
