Online Booking System

Hi

Im working on a dog walking site for my girlfriend and she wants to have an online booking system for walks.

Can i use MySQL & PHP to create this or is the a language more suited to this form of application.

This can be done with any server side language and db-format. PHP - mySQL is as good as any other language-db combination.

Do you know of any sites or litrature that cover this kind of system I dont really know how to do such a system and would find a tutorial very helpfull.
