I think the validility the w3c give you are a little ugly. Atleast they don't go with my site too well - I was wondering where I could get some better looking ones? I tried google already and didn't find any I liked. (not for CSS for found one for html)
Thanks.

I haven't seen any before. Though, if you're going to use them at all, you should use the ones that are provided, since they are the most recognizable.
If you want something smaller, maybe, a lot of blogs use 80x15 gfx instead of 88x13 ones. See the bottom of mine at http://forever.chronolink.net/ and you'll see what I mean.
You're other options are to make your own or use text links.
btw, do you have a link for that HTML graphic you mentioned?

Look good to me :D I suggest that you make them have the same width though.

Nice! I second Antonio's comment though, they should both be the same width.

I always loved the W3 icons and fixing my old pages. I wish there were more validators though. Anyone can slap on an WIA-AAA logo stating that their site is readable on all platforms and even for the blind / deaf, but there's no logical way to validate that at the moment.

I think there ok. Although, they don't go with every layout so I made some. Since my site is for web developers I might make a collection for others to use. (I hope the w3c wont mind)

Notice the other categories on the right). Their (his?) buttons very similar to yours and STDestiny. Though, it does seem like there can never be enough of them.

That is indeed a problem - a lot of sites are claiming AAA conformance just because they've passed auto validation, even though their sites are far from accessible.
But accessibility validation is not like XHTML validation - it's not cut and dried. Auto-validators never will be the whole answer, so I recommend that you don't link WAI conformance icons to an online validator at all - link it to the "explanation of conformance" page that goes with the rating you're claiming.

But why would you change the W3 icons?
They are like logos that should not be changed because they represent something like the Coke, Playboy, Amtrak, NBC logos

Why use them at all? If the site works and validates than thats that. Validators dont use the web, people do. People care about getting what they want from a page. The purpose of validating content is so that the information on the page can be better viewed by the user. When you buy a car you dont have to drive it around with a sticker that says the engine works. If you cant justify an element on your website than should it really be there?
But thats just my opinion.

The main reason I see for using compliancy images is so that a novice web designer, who hasn't learned (and may not even know about) things like CSS and XHTML will see them and wonder what they are, thus promoting further use of valid code.

Making interoperable pages is purpose in itself - as nick_a neatly said.
The only reason why any of us display the conformance icons is because we're showing off - we want other people to see that we know what we're doing.
And there's n'owt wrong with that. All professions display badges of their trade - affiliations, membership of unions, subscription to voluntary codes of practise. Conformance is probably closer to the latter - it's something we choose to take seriously as a mark of our professionalism.
Of course the icons do get abused by people who use them for that kudos without understanding them or having the professionalism they imply - but that's also the same everywhere - all industries have cowboys, so what you gonna do, except set a good example yourself.
So yeah - I think we put icons on our pages for other developers, and possibly tech-savvy clients, to see. And that's fine.

As much as I like using the W3 validator, the site had a bad case of down-time lately. I'm lucky if it can connect to the validator, let alone W3.org. It always times out. They really should make a downloadable validator. But their attempt of making their own web browser (Amaya) had more quirks and bugs than anything I have ever seen. Is anyone experiencing this downtime as well?

I felt some downtime half a year ago when they revamped it, but since then I've not had any problems reaching W3C or their validators.

Its called HTML Tidy. I used it a few years ago to trouble some pages, haven't used it in a while. Its apparently at SourceForge now.
