As for the original question 'Bro…' is quite right though. Have a look in the 'Server Side' forum and you will pick up a feel for what a lot of the experts are using.

I think all languages are useful in their own ways, but you'd probably make much more money as a professional ASP/VB programmer than as a PHP or perl programmer. Java is still very much in demand .. though who knows for how long ... and db technologies like Oracle and SQL are in demand too.

.net is not proven technology, so it's arguably the least reliable. Apache/PHP is statistically the most secure, but that might be more to do with who makes viruses and who they choose to attack with them, than it is the inherent secureness of the technology itself. Though some will disagree with that, and say MS stuff in inherently less secure, I've not personally seen any real evidence of that.

Like all the above posts, it is purely based on what you want to do. But anything can be extremly secure with clever coding.
