I have been in trouble in the past about sending certain emails with certain content and stuff to people, Forwards etc etc

I am looking to start putting some of my websites live and to be honest i dont want anymore hassle with what i can and cant do. whilst none of my sites are offensive or contain anything of the sort, is there a website that people know of that outline the "law" as it were of websites and content and disclaimers and stuff like that? would be interested to know what my restrictions actually are, and whether they even affect me.

thanks.

The internet is subect to the same laws as any other media, with regard to things like slander, defamation, material that might cause offense etc... the only complication is that your site is subject to the jurisdiction of where it's being viewed and not where it's hosted.

This, of course, is a legal minefield which will take many years to establish enough case precedent to be meaningful.

In the meantime, cover your back with ratings META tags - http://www.icra.org - which is always a good idea anyway. Don't bother with a disclaimer - they are legally meaningless and just irritate people.
