Dear Sir/Madam,

Why are some programming languages like java etc., are case-sensitive and some are not? What are its advantages and disadvantages? Is there any technical reason behind it?

Would appreciate for an early response.

thankyou

Case sensitivity makes for faster compilation because the compiler doesn't have to alter the case of everything in order to make comparisons. Beyond that case sensitivity is simply another common source for bugs.

Here here Roy...

I hate combing through line upon line of code just to learn that the reason why a program won't compile or is throwing errors is simply because some programmer forgot that their variable for somthing or other was camel cased.
