I am trying to create a web page where people can make donations through credit cards. I am worry about security. What would be the best way to secure the transactions?
The server supports ASP/ASP. NET.
thanks,
Daniel

Just read this and it will give you some more information:

but not a real answer....

I personally would say use paypal and do not bother reinventing the wheel.... My 2 cents....

Thanks, but I am looking for a more specific tech answer. How do I get from the html form that has the sensitive info to the SSL?

there was a link on that page I showed you to Verisign

http://www.verisign.com/products/payment.html

on that page on the right is links to Free Guides and they might help you out. Creatng this information is rather a tough subject since you do not want to let this information into the wrong hands.

Does the server allow for SSL setup?

Google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Setting+up+SSL) has a good way to show you how to find out how to set it up if it is your own server.

I persoannly would rely on another service to do it for me so I would not be worried about being sued.

if its donations for the site, and not actaully buying individual products, best use pay pal or amazon honor system (which is pretty cool, cos lots of people have amazon accounts and wron't be detered by having to sign up and all that). people prefer this because they trust paypal and amazon more with their CC details
