View Full Version : Best/Most Efficient Flash Detection Script

Hey All,

I have a site with a flash header. If the user doesn't have flash, I just want to display an image instead.

I've searched the forum and it seems that other detection scripts redirect to a different page, rather than a different piece of code. Are there any alternatives? I want to keep the same index page.

Use the OBJECT tag for your Flash, if the end user doesn't have Flash installed (say someone like me :D ), after they pass by the noxious message asking if they want to download and install Flash (something I have to put up with on the order of dozens a time per day -- Flash advertisements ought to be illegal!! ) the content between the <object> and the </object> tags should be rendered instead of the flash object. That can be a static image or whatever you feel should be there instead.
