Broken CD-Rom Drive??

Hello,

I gutted a old computer and I took out a CD Rom drive that appeared fairly new... 52X... The thing is, when you move it around it sounds like something is loose... like balls rolling around or a spring or something. I really dont know, but is that a normal sound? It still reads CD Roms and everything fine as far as I can tell.

Open the drive tray, turn off the computer with the drive tray extended. Remove the drive from the computer, hold the drive with the tray facing the floor and then shake it until whatever's loose falls out or you get tired.

Of course since it still works you could just ignore it.

Well, I'm picky about things like that.... But nothing comes out, that was the first thing I tried :D

you can hit it with a hammer until something else breaks and then you might feel a sense of accomplishment when something does fall out...otherwise its probably ok...though there may be that one time the drive doesn't open....
