Distributing python programs

I understand how python is useful to the programmer, but if I want to send my programs to my friends, how do they run the program if they do not have python installed on their computer?

..I found out that they can be runned in ms-dos prompt..but I dont know if thats true for someone who does not have python.

any suggestions?

They'll need the python interpreter.

Look for a python compiler or something, the only thing like that I know of is py2exe which I think only ran on 2k and NT system (so if you have XP you can use it) ... Google would help more than me though ;)..
