I recently installed windows xp on my system (format/install). First thing I did once windows was set up was install my video card drivers (ATI RADEON 32mb AWI). The display/tv-out worked fine, but the capture was messed up. I was lazy and didn't really feel like troubleshooting, so I just formatted and reinstalled again, thinking something might have messed up during the install, no dice. I installed the latest version of the driver and when I try to capture in VirtualDub the prog stops responding, when I try in VirtualVCR I get sound, but no picture, same for Windows Movie Maker and when I try with ATI's capture program I get video on my screen, but when I capture, the file has no video data. I then installed sp1, and every update that dealed with video/capture, no luck. So I uninstalled the driver reinstalled it, then went on to try three older versions of the driver and always ended up with the same result. I know my capture card is working fine, I was using it on win 2ks right before the re-install. I've also used it on XP before, so I know there shouldn't be a compatibility problem. Any ideas?

I'm using:
OS: Windows XP Pro SP1, fully updated
Video: Radeon 32mb All-In-Wonder
MB: ASUS A7N266

P.S. I tested each time with my S-video in and my tv-tuner, both of which were working before the install.

ATI I RENOUNCE THEE!

I finally got it working. I reinstalled win2k and then after hours of playing around I got it working using an older wdm driver, and the latest display driver/MMC.

People say ATI has finally learnt how to make drivers. I'd have to disagree.

I feel you pain, I've had one too many bad driver experiences with ATI Radeons to warrant every buying one again. I've had no problems so far with nVidia drivers, they always seem to work good.
