Need site ideas/ partners

I finally have sometime now to develop a domain that I owned for while. http://www.ecoder.com. I think its a great name with a lot of potential for a right idea.

After reading this message board and seeing the dedication and expertise of its memebers I thought i can get some cool ideas or even get together with some people to develop a community/ profit sharing development/design group.

ECoder? Sounds like a languages reference site? Im currently writing references for php(functions reference) html, css and javascript for my development site exspected to be open march 1st but I probably wont be done by then. Let me know exsacly what content you have planed, I'd love to get involved.

I'm always keen to get onboard with any kind of development.
If you need people for the design/coding team, count me in.
(Free of course, as long as it's of some sort of benefit to me).

I'm also a pixel-pushing veteran (Photoshop user) of 11 years, so I can do all that crap no worries too:cool:

So what's your idea so far?
Besides the fact that you want the site to be 100% semantically correct, table-free, XHTML?:D

Holy crap, I just looked at your "Coming Soon" page, that's one nasty pile of tables:(
So I've re-done it in XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS.

This one has a few features your old one lacked, the box is now centered vert. and horiz. at any resolution.
And the page now has a doctype.
Just rename and dump it in your root folder and all will be well.

Thanks Andrew. I am trying to put together a community that is somewhat a cross between a web design/development resource site and a remote development group.

I see a lot of talented designers/coders on the web that have great skills and ideas. If you bring all those people together under the same virtual roof and name you can create great things and get rewarded for them.

My idea is to use ecoder "content" to promote the expert members groups, kind of little companies which can do commercial projects and at the same time contribute to the main site. I will elaborate on that a little later..once we form a base founder crew.

When I say content I mean, tutorials/forums/protofolios/blogs etc..

Sounds awesome Sign me up. Im really into development. Ive been working on my own project like that since july of 2002 i believe and its still in slow progress. Im up for it even if its not much or any real benifit to me so give me a holler ok.

ColdConFusion? Ugh, I hate coding in it... I doubt too many hosting companies offer it unless you pay for a dedicated server because at least with IIS, it tends to get confused and display pages that reside on site A and show them on site B. And vice-versa if the the files have the same filename. It has to do with how CF caches pages.

I'm stuck learning it atm as where I'm studying chose it over ASP because too many people were failing!

So now I have my home machine running a CFMX Server which is stopping me from getting all "phpified" (To quote me').
Although CFMX w/ Flash/ActionScript 2.0 looks like it could make some damn interesting apps.:D
Oh well, only six more months to go...


**edit: Got Apache/Php to work on the same machine as IIS/CFMX! Now all I need is sleep.:p
