Color Problems When Saving

OK, I'm using Adobe ImageReady 2.0 and I'm having a horrible time trying to get my image colors to appear how I want them to. When I save my image, it looks fine. When I load it on the web, it's reduced to only two colors! I think this has something to do with 'Save Optimized' but that's the only option I have to save it, because any images saved normally as .psd don't work period when I load them!

Any solutions?? :(

make sure you are " only web colors" in the color picker pallette.

Thank you for the reply, but I tried that and there was no difference. All of the colors seem perfectly web-safe; my image is perfectly fine when saved optimized - but when I place it on my other image, a blue bar, then save optimized, the result is a NOT fine image when I'm through with it.
