Visual Basic: saving input in textbox

i have a textbox in an HTML editor im making and it saves whats put it in, but it saves some extra stuff...the text formatting:

why is this saving along with the text? how can i get it to stop?

looks to me like rtf-tags, how do you save things??

rtftext - rich text box, yes thats what it is....yes you can save data input from those but i just need to know why its saving the formating and how to stop it:(
