Converting wmv to mpg/mpeg?!?!

I am trying to convert a wmv video clip to mpg/mpeg or avi format. It is to be embedde in my web site, but cannot be uploaded to geocities due to "invalid file format". Therefor I need to convert the format. Can anyone help???!!!!!
