Hi.

I have an adsl modem, 5 win98 system and 1 redhat linux 7.3 system -all connected in one lan.
What i have planned is, installing this modem in linux system, use it as a powerful proxy server for my other win systems.
Now my adsl modem doesn't have driver files for linux. so iam forced to intall the modem in any one of the windows system, along with any free proxy in order to make internet connection sharing. But am not at all happy with the windows free proxies.
Continous browsing from my lan was not possible with any of the proxy.

Now i badly need to function this linux system as my proxy server. is there any way to do this?

What kind of adsl modem is it? (Brand & model number).

One of us may be able to find drivers for it. You could also (though this method is kinda......slow) possibly try to run a Linux VirtualPC on the Windows98 machine the modem is currently plugged into...You may be able to "trick" Linux into thinking that the modem is directly attached. I'm not even sure that this method would work, however.

YAO *might* be to try a stand-alone dsl router/switch. These are common, and you may find one that you can just plug the modem into, and everything will be happy. Then again, probably not. I vote option number 1.

Sorry but given the spec's I don't think you could use the linux server with this DSL...
