First let me say that I am in no way involved with this company. I just know many on this forum are all about being valid so I am posting this for them. Anywho as the title suggests someone has released valid XHTML 1.1 web controls: http://www.xhtmlwebcontrols.net/ for asp.net. The pricing is a bit much for me but I read on another forum that they are restructuring their licensing and pricing structure, hopefully it will drop in price some. It kind of stinks that its not free but that is just they way it goes it seems in the custom asp.net control world.

I would say the price is a little steep for what it does, but then again I saw a simple tree menu that someone wanted $100 for that was not impressive. Then again .NET is an expensive language if you want the right tools. There are free tools out there, but they do not do as nice as of a job in my experience.
My 2 cents

Thanks for noticing our work. We are restructuring the price list a bit but the biggest thing we are doing is offering a HUGE!!! discount on the first license purchased. Basically the single user license will remain $399.95 but to really help small shops and single developers get started we are offering a 1 time discount of $200 on the first license so an individual developer can buy in for $199.95. Doesn't totally destroy our price model but really lowers the price barrier for single developers.
Second, regarding what the controls do. I would recommend if you are interested to take a deeper look at the CSS and Client Script support of the controls and how we handle these issues.
View CSS Support Here (http://www.xhtmlwebcontrols.net/products/xwc/css_support.aspx)
View Client-Script Support (http://www.xhtmlwebcontrols.net/products/xwc/client_script_support.aspx)
I also encourage you to view source on our website and see how sparkling clean it is. Go to the control demos and view source of say the Rich Controls calendar or the data controls. You might be surprised at what they actually do. Notice that, athough there are tons of dynamic style attributes applied to the calendar, and all links in the calendar are Javascript events you won't find a single line of javascript, including event assignments in the source code. We can produce completely css stylized pages with full client-script support without you every seeing a bit of CSS or Javascript in the XHTML document. Pure as the driven snow.
Then go view source on www.asp.net or www.gotdotnet.com and compare.
We have completely rewritten the entire web controls namespace to do what we wanted, render the cleanest, most function and most compliant code.
I hope the discount will encourage you and others to dig into the controls, download the trial (will be available tomorrow) and see what has actually be accomplished.
If you have any questions or comments, I'll certainly be returning here or you can post them on our board at http://forums.xhtmlwebcontrols.net (not build with our controls)

LOL,
I would say you company/team/etc spent a good amount of time coding this since most .NET pages are not even close to being xhtml.
What target audience is your comany trying to hit?
Just wondering......

This was an ENORMOUS undertaking, basically a complete rewrite of the entire System.Web.UI.WebControls namespace in the order of about 260 objects and 30,000 + lines of code, 20,000 lines of documentation . . . it was a big undertaking.
We have a two pronged focus:
ASP.NET development community
--------------------------------------------
This Larger firms are fine with the pricing structure of the licenses we released and are taking to the product just fine. The problem is with single developer and small firms is that the price puts the bar pretty high to getting involved. This is why we came up with the 1 time 50% off on the 1st license deal for everyone because the single developer can more easily deal with a price of $199.95. So we're trying to put together a program for all in this area.
Web Standards community
----------------------------------
Next stage is the webstandards community which we'll address in the short term future by doing a Macromedia Dreamweaver integration which is currently under way. These users will be really at home with these controls and the CSS support because our controls properties exactly match the 1.1 DTD tag and attributes as well as our XCss object matching the CSS2 recommendation. It will be a real natural transition from doing static websites to dynamic.
We know it's going to take some time to accomplish and penetrate these markets but we're pretty dedicated to getting the word out.
