Does anyone have any good sites that will tell me how to get started using filters in Outlook for spam?

I don't know how to get filters to work or work correctly, if anyone has information about this, it would be very appreciated.

Thanks

In Outlook 2000 I just right-click on the spam and select "Add to your Junk Senders List". There's also a "Rules Wizard" under the Tools menu I've used to create specific rules for catching some of the more obvious garbage. And if I could get hold of the idiots who've sent me the same stupid spam every hour today and introduce them to the fine art of eating pavement I'd sure feel a lot better  .

Do you mind posting any spam rules you have set?
That way I wont have to force myself to come up with some. hehe.
I know of a few things I would like to auto send to the trash.

I can't. Most of them would violate the forum rules for language.

Do you know how I can put a filter in for pictures?
If a picture is linked in the html (doesn't matter from where), just if I a picture is linked in HTML at all, I want to send it to the deleted bin.

Do you know I can do this?

Thanks.

So you got that nasty piece of spam in your inbox this morning too? Since I have to provide a password to pass the firewall, I normally never let images in my email load but when they use the embedded image technique I see them anyway and the one this morning was the kind you can't delete fast enough.

I'm not sure the filters will search for html tags, I think they ignore the tags and look only at the content but if they will look for tags then you should be able to put "<img" and "<object" into the search and extract those emails. The problem with that approach is the co-workers who've decided to use html email and embed images in their signatures and the like.

I didn't get any e-mail like that roy, but I do get alot of casnio e-mails.
Also, you can exempt the co-workers with img tags in there e-mails by telling the filter to not put them in the deleted bin if it's "<img src=Friend's Server"

But I will try the html filter.

Anyone else tried SpamBayes (http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/)? I've been using it for several months as a plugin for my Outlook 2002, and it works well for me.

Yeah I use that - went from up to 200 pieces of junk a day .. to none, ever. I like that :)

Just installed it, so far it keeps putting all my BUGTRAQ messages into the suspected junk mail folder. I suppose it'll take some time to train it up but thanks for the reference, I definitely needed something to get a handle on the trash mail I've been getting lately.

I will try that program. So it's all good.
I will report back if I have a problem.
