colour wbmp images?

Correct me if I'm wrong. I have been reading wml tutorial and about wbmp images so i tried using photoshop or firework mx to convert photos to wbmp but both offer just black and white??

I have seen some colour images when browsing on my wap phone, are these images in jpg and gif?

By the way, what is <card> - is it like a page?
