I haven't actually used it (Photoshop all the way!), but I have heard some good things about G.I.M.P. (http://www.gimp.org)

ok, but how do you want your banner ?
with flash animation or just a simple lame banner without any funky animation ?

Just a normal lame banner (lol) with them rounded edges and them like embedded images:thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

easy way: search google for "button generator"

hard way(and best in long run): download GIMP and learn how to use it(well). i can personaly testify to its quality :)

you can use Flash 5.0 n above to design ur banner oso. Its better programme and more interface n effects. a proffessional tool for banners.

I doubt you will ever be able to reach the visual effects you can with gimp/photshop with flash (unless you import your image files of course)

in what does flash have a beter interface and what are the effects you speak of?
