At the moment I have alot of applications that start themselves and I dont want them to. Not spyware/adware, but things like quicktime ect. I know alot of programs have built in commands to stop it running at startup, but is there any way to manually stop those programs that do not?

I have looked in scheduled tasks by the way, and the only thing there is Norton LiveUpdate, which I want.

Any ideas?

What version of Windows are you running? For some reason I remember not having msconfig on Windows 2000, but if you just do a Run > msconfig, a window should pop up with a Startup tab. All the files that load on start up should be there. That's how I got rid of quicktime :)

Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Find the service and stop it and change it from automatic to manual.
