Truly awsome show if you watch it with an open mind... They basically started fresh as opposed to attempting to carry on or make a sequel to the original...

My favorite quotes/lines thus far:

Starbuck, "Why can't we use the starboard launchbay???"

CPO Tyrol, "Because the starboard launchbay is a gift shop..."

Starbuck, "Frack me!!!"
(Yes they literally say Frack me, ROFL)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Number 6, "How does a neck this small hold all that weight???"

*Cracks neck*

Can't wait till tommorow's continuation...

I grew up watching the original one. This one sucks. I know they started fresh but the original was good for a reason. They removed the unique qualities that made the original what it is today. This one lacks that uniqueness and now just looks like all the other 200 shows with people in space ships on television.

I don't know Spook... I grew up with the original also and am an avid fan of it, however, the thing that stands out in this one, thus far, is that it is a very complete story in of it's own... It's giving you charactor depth within a very dark and brooding atmosphere... I'm going to give this one a few more episodes (that is if they make more, which I believe is their intent)...

If they wanted to not make it like the original they should have just started up a completely new show with a new name and didn't relate it at all to the original.

They changed the Sylons to look human and changed the robot version to look like something out of a horror movie. These people also look like they are directly from earth from the way they talk and dress instead of being from some colony that got lost from Earth. Their clothes look like modern day clothes we wear. One guy was even wearing a suit and tie.

I'll give it a couple more shows with an open mind or at least try but I don't think i'll like it any more. It's really no different than watching shows like Babylon 6, Deep Space Nine, etc or the other couple of dozen sci fi shows that came around after Star Trek the next Generation. At least with Star Trek TNG they kept thiings in line with the original show. That is what I was expecting with Battlestar Galactica.

bah humbug , I don't care how kak it is since we in Australia won't ever get to see it until its as old as the original series is now anyway....

we got 1/2 of the 1st run of Enterprise (1/2 cos if it was a toss up between the cricket and T'pau the Australian broadcasters picked cricket every time ?)

we do get some of stargate sometimes , sometimes not , what we do get is Men In Black 1 promoted as if its hot off the press...

Sci-Fi fans , don't migrate to Australia without a satellite dish.

And yes I am one of those sad freaks who watches almost anything Sci-Fi even if it stinks (with the exception of Babylon5 & kakquest which give me the vapours)

, but there is absolutely nothing of interest for sci-fi fans at the moment here apart from old episodes of Dr Who where you can see the zips in the costumes.

I remember enjoying the original Battlestar & they had my fave robots even if 'face' used to ham it up a bit.

Don't judge Babylon 5 from it's introductory episode which was pretty poor. The rest of the series was far better and you can order the first four seasons now on DVD through Amazon.
