View Full Version : Accessing information in parent applications (C#)

I have a virtual directory in IIS ("/reports") that needs to access information in the global.asax of the parent application ("/") and I was wondering how I could do that, if it is even possible.
My global.asax right now has the classname Globals. And it has several public variables declared in it that are used through out the site.
Now, I was wondering if and how I could access them from a sub app.
Am I making any sense?

Can't you inherit the class?

Have you tried it the same way you would use a global.asa? If it works the same way, as long as you don't have another global.asa in your subfolder, then it applies to child folders... I'm thinking that it would probably work if you just included it in your project as a .dll if you could accomplish the same things that way, but I'm not clear on the desired result, or whether that works the same way with .NET.
Considering some of the lame things that Microsoft has continued to do (for instance use proprietary JScript in the auto-generated client-side code in Visual Studio.NET), I'd at least give it a try. :p
allida77 seems to be pretty up on this stuff... :)
