What do you all think? I think it is rather dumb; I mean how is that offensive? It kinda makes me think someone just wanted some time in the spot light.
I can understad that ! I also feel offended if people keep calling me 'master!' :D

I'm sorry, but that's just stupid... "Oh not it says MASTER/SLAVE!" ... how old are we again?

I read this one, I assume they are the same http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/ptech/11/26/master.term.reut/index.html but I think its rediculous that anyone would feel affended that a piece of hardware says master and another piece says slave, oh my goodness I have to insert the pin into the master/slave position, I need to sue someone for this and make me some money....

aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrgh.........! I'm reading it just before bed time... This is the kind of thing that doesn't help to sleep. Why some people keep on being that stupid? A word can't be offensive by itself by definition. It needs a context... So here I see no context that would make these words offensive. If we follow that thinking, those two words should then also be erased from every history book... I don't see in what they are less offensive in the context of an history class than in the conext of computers.
It kinda makes me think someone just wanted some time in the spot light.
probably.............................. :(

Is it why you seem so far away from the ASP forum? ;)

Talk about a waste of space on their server :)
Computer terms/screen names are merely an Alias. They are not who you are just, as stated above, an Alias. Geez :D
A word can't be offensive by itself by definition.
Very true, but these people are probably a bit animistic. They think they can eradicate or controle something real, something concrete, by eradicating a word or symbol or whatever.
A very intresting proces, non the less. Maybe you've had to read some Lacan at school (should be 'easier' for you to read). I wrote some intresting stuff about the relationship between the symbolic representation and the 'real world'.

Nono. I'm just plotting my strategie to enslave the world (me and some other guys that is; Dilbert, Mr Burns, Bill Gates,...)

:p Hey say hello to Mr Burns... Do you also plan to hide the sun so we have to pay for electricity? ;)
I'm rather into semiotics, but I obviously know and read Lacan. Raf I've got to tell you are very surprising... I would almost take your words seriously about the world's enslavement ;)
Anyways, talking about animistic people... Since the beginning of last century animistic and neurotic people have been associated in a brillant text by Sigmund Freud that I can only recommend: Totem and Taboo (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0394701240/ref=pd_bxgy_text_1/103-5588693-7323831?v=glance&s=books&st=*). I can only recommend the reading of such a book. It definitly helps to have a better understanding of the world. If you read it and like it, check also this one in addition: Moses and Monothism (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0394700147/qid=1069930025/sr=1-8/ref=sr_1_8/103-5588693-7323831?v=glance&s=books). Then you'll know who you're talking to when you're talking to people who want to erradicate words............ A time under soptilght is probably the finality of it (and maybe money if someone gets sued) but it has a signification that this is this way that has been chosen to be under spotlight... Neurosis I tell you... Neurosis...
Do you also plan to hide the sun so we have to pay for electricity?
Exactly !! In addition I've bought the amarican plans from the vietnamwors to build a giant space mirror so that parts of the world will never experience night again.
I'm rather into semiotics, but I obviously know and read Lacan. Raf I've got to tell you are very surprising...
I've got a master is psychology, hence... but i fear your diagnose is corect. Pure hysterical sublimation. The intresting part is to know is "who is it aimed at ?".
Well, not my problem. They can just keep screaming at the sideline, i don't mind.

Just to add - YOU get to pick what is the master and the slave. It's not like just one color drive has to be the slave. If that was the case there might be an argument.

I'm all for equality. My two newest harddrives are in a RAID 1 array and thus I've seen to that they are the first emanicipated hardware in my possession. (Oh yeah, the RAID card persists to see them as master and slave, but the rest of my hardware has realised the error of their ways.)

All I can say about this is it's obvious that the complainers have forgotten this very well known nursery rhyme:
"Stick and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me.".
Having forgotten that rhyme it's obvious they need to return to nursery school for a refresher.
