I agree with af11kcc about Irfanview, a great little bit of software, and that's from a regular Photoshop user! The software can certainly do what you need it to do and more.:thumbsup:

If you only have to do it once and it's not a regular task you might want to try an online solution. http://www.coolutils.com/Online/Image-Converter/ can do it.
