Connecting java to mySQL DB

Does anyone know how to connect to a mySQL database from a Java application? Are there any websites that have guides on how to do this?

Are you referring to JSP or some other implementation of Java as in a standalone program or applet?

I would like to use a JDBC connection for a java applet.
