View Full Version : How do I check the state????

Hi! Friends,
Am stuck with another problem. My work is in ASP,HTML, and

SQL-Server with IIS. There's one option(a checkbox), controlled by the

administrator, which when checked , should pop up a box and ask a value

from the user, which is otherwise generated sequentially and

automatically. This value is inserted in the database then. The

problem is, I am storing the status of the option in a session

variable, then a general user will not be able to use it, in that case

the user needs to be given the administrative rights, which I don't

What do I do???

Two options, use a application level variable (via your global.asa file) or put the value into another database table so you can get it from there instead of from a session variable.

I'm very confused reading your post.

You say you are storing the variable in a database, and then nobody but an admin can use the resulting session variable that you create at the same time?!?!

I'm not sure why only an "admin" would have access to this session variable... ?

If this is an option "controlled only by the administrator" then a session variable shouldn't be used unless the user's entry is validated against the database when they login.

Could you perhaps explain again more clearly exactly what you are trying to do?
