View Full Version : MySQL don't start even manually

02-03-2013, 02:17 PM
I can't start MySQL 5.5 server even manually from cmd prompt, when I go to /bin folder and run "mysqld.exe --console"

The paths in my.ini file are all correct.

What could be the problem...?

What error are you getting? Have you checked the .err file?

OK, I'm not sure which is the error log file (I'm on win XP).

In case it's "mysqld_error.h", I posted it's content here:

www.worldsupport.jp/MySQL-error.txt (http://www.worldsupport.jp/MySQL-error.txt)

So, does this help to figure out where the problem is..?

That's not it, that's a header file for compiling C programs. The error file should have a file extension of err and be in the MySQL data directory.

It seems there's no such a file. I did a *err* search in the mysql directory; the printscreen is here:

www.worldsupport.jp/MySQL.gif (http://www.worldsupport.jp/MySQL.gif)
(zoom in to see 100% size)

I don't know if it helps with anything, but I posted the content of the errmsg.sys file here:

www.worldsupport.jp/errmsg.txt (http://www.worldsupport.jp/errmsg.txt)

If the error log file should be somewhere (while it doesn't exist now), should the location, etc. be specified in the configuration file or somewhere..?

Hi again,
Here's the print screen- I'm sorry it's in Japanese.

The first error message says that the service mysqld.exe will be terminated, sorry for the inconvenience, send or not the report to Microsoft, bla bla..

It says to press the blue link which I do, then I get the second error message, which is below in the print-screen image.

Then it says to press the first blue link, for technical information; so then I get the window in the third print-screen.

It's a long text but unfortunately it can't be copied in the clipboard.
It's made a reference to the 'errmsg-utf8.txt' file.

I uploaded the content of this file:
www.worldsupport.jp/errmsg-utf8.txt (http://www.worldsupport.jp/errmsg-utf8.txt)

Could you think of a solution for this..?
Any hints appreciated.

do you have right 32/64 version installed ?

That's one thing that puzzles me. How come it terminates it, when the service isn't even running....?
I have the 32 version.

so, I remember troubles like this last time I installed mysql on win.

The thing is, you have to remove all previous instalations COMPLETELY !
Even if this, that you have now, got corrupted it goes the same as in previous statement.

Completely means, everything relevant from registry, data folder, program folder, user folder ,...
Windows built in uninstall will not do that.

Use some of uninstalers that are plenty outthere.

Reboot, repeat upper instructions, Reinstall.

Repeat upper instructions severel times, if not working first time, until you succeed.

Unfortunately I don't have bulletproof recipe to do all that.

it's not running, it doesn't appear in the task manager

02-14-2013, 05:28 PM
The point is, it will not run for whatewer reason, you are not geting anywhere (error message are sometimes totaly obscure, as in your case), finding the reason is futile & pointless.
And yeah, check the folders where it is installed, if they are mybe read only.

Remove, reinstall.

This is the quickest way.

OK, then, so I'll do.
As I understand, I have to remove everything completely before a new reinstall, including some files and registry keys that the uninstaller doesn't remove.
What exactly are these files/keys...?

What exactly are these files/keys...?

Do you realy expect me to know ?

As I said before , get a decent uninstaler.

I reinstalled from scratch MySQL server and after the fresh reinstallation I still can't start it.

When I try to start it from the Services, the error is now: "Error 1067 the process terminated unexpectedly"

I don't understand what the cause may be...

02-27-2013, 02:18 PM
OK, I did the following command from the Command prompt

C:\>"Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\bin\mysqld" --defaults-file="C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\my.ini" --console

and here's the result:
