<div class="breakinglinks"><span class="carrotrt"> >> </span>
<a class="linkinsidedropdown" href="">Harley Davidson 2013 outlook expected to be above analyst consensus</a>
</div>

CSS

span.carrotrt {
color:darkred;
padding-right:5px;
text-decoration:none;
}

div.breakinglinks{
display:inline;
padding:5px 0 0 5px;
}

The above ends up like
>>
Harley Davidson 2013 outlook expected to be above analyst consensus (http://oeu.com)

where as im trying to have it on the same line

>> Harley Davidson 2013 outlook expected to be above analyst consensus (http://oeu.com)

Hello phpchick,
The snippet you've provided doesn't reproduce the problem you're having, the arrows and anchor all display on one line.
Maybe your .breakinglinks inherits a width from something we aren't seeing?
Maybe a reset somewhere changing your anchors to block level?
