please don't explain with a mile long code i wont be able to figure it out.
a working example would be best so i can change and edit to see how it works.

Hello BloodyRain,
I think you're looking for a Disjointed Rollover. Knowing what it's called will help you find more examples.

I have an example here (http://nopeople.com/CSS%20tips/disjointed_rollover/index.html).

That example (http://nopeople.com/CSS%20tips/disjointed_rollover/index.html) is a very simple one. The text that is hovered could easily be changed to an image. Click on the Markup/CSS links in the upper right corner to see how it's done.

Yes it should, there is no js or anything else needed. Hard to say why it's not working for you, would need to see your code. It would be easiest to check yours if you link us to the test site.
