really? it's the first time that happens to me after 1 year and a half running. Disabling the messenger service won't affect the windows messenger, is that right?

what do you mean windows messanger service? Messenger is just the open port to which your computer recieves messages...If you only set it to disable then it will auto load the next time your computer turns on, you have to turn it off to where you must turn it on when needed. There is a thread about this. Just do a search for "popups" or something to find it.

The message you got is a perfect example of the sleaziness of spammers who will spam you using an obscure mechanism trying to sell you code to prevent them from using that obscure mechanism when all you really need to do is turn off the offending service which has the added benefits of using less memory and speeding up the system boot process.
