View Full Version : Change a Link Based Off Text Box

Just joined the forums here!

I've having a lot of trouble as a HTML noob on this. Anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated.

I basically am trying to create a textbox, where you can enter a tracking number, and when you press the submit button, it sends you to lets say USPS' website, with the tracking information. I already have the link for it, so no need to find that, I just don't know how to do go about getting the text into the link.

An top of that, I'm looking to create the text box as an image. Sort of like how Twitter does it, and same with the submit button.

I'm becoming quite frustrated with this. I've looked at so many webpages trying to figure it out on my own, but can't seem to get it. Thanks guys...

I just don't know how to do go about getting the text into the link.

You can set the form's action attribute to the path of the script you want to send the data to and the form's method attribute to GET.

Then when the form is submitted all the form data is appended to the action's value as a query string with name/value pairs and so the form data effectively becomes part of the "link".
