animated stars background problem

Greetings. I am making a site (poking fun at my coworker--lol) and am going to have the Twilight Zone theme song playing. Hence, I would like to have the background flickering with stars. I have seen many sites do such--some with falling stars, and other as if flying through space--but whenever I try to do it (I have tried various copy and paste scripts), the stars just zoom back and forth, contained within a centimeter at the top. Anyone know what I am doing wrong? Any copy and paste script that can be provided or a link to, would be great. Oh, I also tried swapping the snowflakes script (I found in some Oct 2003 post someone had on here, actually) with a star I just whipped up in PS and saved, and using that script but it does the same thing--just zooms back and forth as a thin little strip at top of page...:confused:
