rundll32 missing

Hi

We have win9x system where the Rundll32 file keeps on missing.
even if i copy it from other system, then if i find that file,
its missing. because of this, i couldn't able to view
any control panels properties,printers configuration etc.

I have even checked for virus with latest updated mcfee patch.
it shows no infected items found.

is it the formatting is the only way to cure this or any simple solution
available>?

Copy it again but this time set the read-only and system attributes for the file and see if it still disappears.
