View Full Version : Beowulf Proxy??

I've recycled a few old computers into a ragtag Beowulf cluster (using MPI). I want to run a basic SOCKS Proxy server on the cluster, but I can't find one online and have no idea where to start. Does anyone know of one written in C or C++ that is designed for a beowulf?

designed specifically for clusters no. but depending on your needs try squid if you need serious proxy or tinyproxy if you need only basic features.
both are writen in c if i'm not mistaken, and you have sources available ;)
btw i had tinyproxy running directly on my router (600mhz cpu / 64 megs of ram) filtering contents in real time for years. this thing will run on just about anything with cpu :D

I'm actually using squid right now, but I want to get one that utilizes the whole cluster, mostly just so I can say I did :p
You mentioned the source, does that mean it is easy to modify to work with Beowulf? (Keep in mind I have 0 experience with c/c++, but I'm decent with a few other languages and a quick learner :p)
