Layering?

I'm trying to create a table cell, which has a background image. I'm not sure if this is possible. If it is not, can I put the image in that cell, and have text over that image? I know I've seen it before, and I've looked everywhere for examples, but can't seem to locate them anymore, murphy's law.

No, I already tried that, and it didn't work. :confused:

Figured might as well say what problem i was having with the background image.

It turned out that it doesn't work if you create rowspan or colspan attributes within the TD tags
