i second ithium.net:

100mb space
1Gb transfer
unlimited email, FTP, subdomains, and mysql databases

only $10 a YEAR!!!

the $100/year (about 8.60/month) has 1gb of web space and 25 gigs of transfer.

And ithium's been very reliable. I haven't had any down time or slow speeds since ui joined up.

Is it me or what, but are there any links on ithium.net? I'd like to sign up, but there's nothing to click.

Absolutely not. There's tons of free hosting out there that's a whole sh*t load better than Geocities or Angelfire.

they have good FAQs to help you with FTP uploading and site

Well, considering 1and1.com is free for the first 3 years to US citizens, that should fit under the "free" category.

I've had nothing but problems with 1and1, they're a pain to get domains released and dns settings changed. I've had customers lost faith in hosting companies due to them being very unreliable.

so it's official? are we all us citizens? ;)

I think I already mentionned it but depending on the type of account you need one at ithium.net might cost you 10$ a year. At this price it is almost free. And you will have shopping cart, chatrooms etc. that you can install. Check ionsurge signature... If a mod also says so...
