Manipulating the address in the address bar

How can I do this?

My sites index.php redirects to http://www.net-riches.com/includes/categories.php?cat=home

I want the address bar to display http://www.net-riches.com

How might I do this?

By working inside a 'dummy' framepage :

Using mod_rewrite will also work, but it'll be a pain in the rear and tricky to use if you've never used it before. Best stick to html frames if you don't wanna mess with server settings
