Apple iPhone Programming?

Hi,

How would I go on about getting started to program for iphone and ipad?

How much does it cost? Is there free resources to learn iOS programing?

Have you tried it? I have 6 months time to learn before I apply for a new job hopefully programming for IOS so I want to be ready.
