Hi, I have not yet written one bit on Javascript or html. I wanted to come here first in order to get some good ideas on how to begin.
1) Can I use the Notepad program already installed on my computer or should I download/use something else for html/javascript

2) How do I run my Javascript on my computer/Internet browser?

3) What is the best free website/database to learn from that will take me from the beginning giving me the most detail?

Thank you for any advice you can offer up to me!

:)

You can use the standard notepad installed on your computer. However I recommend installing a free and simple editor that Highlights and indents your code for you, It makes code a lot easier to read. Personally I use Notepad++ (Free) but there are a lot of other ones out there.

If I want to write the code for my own website, should I learn a bit of html first so I know the basics? Then I can use Javascript for the majority of my code, correct?

Thanks

Html is a markup language you create your basis structure in it with all the data in it, you use css to style this structure and data. Javascript is a scripting/coding language you use it to improve the user experience.

For a starter in web design you should focus on html and css you can make good websites with that.

For starting with HTML and CSS, try the HTMLDog tutorials (http://htmldog.com/guides/). The Mozilla Developer Network (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/learn) is also an excellent resource, both for beginner to advanced guides, and reference material.
