Animated writing out of words? Looking for advice.

Howdy,

I don't even know where to begin looknig for how to do this so hopefully someone could point me in the right direction. I basically want to create a splash page for my website. On thie page I want to have our Logo, and then underneath it, I want to have a phrase in a Script type font.

So far that's easy.

However what I'm told they want to do is have the script part appeared as some sort of animation where it looks like it's actually being written on the screen as the person watches it. Even more they'd like to have a paint brush (part of the logo) appear as if it's writing the words across the screen.

I don't know if this would be best done somehow in Flash, or if some program could do this and save it as an animated Gif or what. Anyone have any suggestions on where I could start looking for a way to accomplish this?

Go with Flash if they insist on doing this. The swf file would most likely be much smaller than any gif file.

I saw a site where this is actually done for you...but I forget just where.
I think it's out there somewhere in cyber-space...:D

You could look into SVG (W3C standard compliant, completely free + an XML technologie + is interpreted as text by searchengines etc) but i reccon there are more surfers with the flash plugin,then with an SVG viewer installed. (Moz for instance only has limited SVG support)
